About
Our mission is to:
“Stop The Violence!” and spread a message of hope through positive literacy, arts, words & creative writing, that will empower our communities to improve the quality of health, wellness, and life in our youth by offering positive alternatives to the streets.
Program Goal:
To promote reading literacy and the arts to all age groups with a focus on urban, city, and disadvantaged youth.
Stop The Violence:
Stop the violence is a compilation project spear headed by SWIP’s founder and poet, Yahkhahnahn. This is an awe inspiring, and spiritually uplifting compilation of cogitative lyrics and ambiance. This complilation was carefully arranged for your enjoyment, but demands your activism in stopping youth violence across America. SWIP indicates that all proceeds to this project will go to activities and programs for our Stop The Violence Campaign, youth development and charities. SWIP’s compilation has some of the most profound artist to hit the industry in recent years. Please take a few moments and click on the “Stop The Violence Album.”
SWIP Poetry Chapter is an acronym for, “Spoken Word Inner-tainment Publishing Poetry Chapter” and will afford disadvantaged youth the opportunity to increase literacy and introduction to the arts while allowing up and coming African American authors exposure for their work. SWIP Poetry Chapter (also known as SWIP Publishing) is a 501(c)(3) non-for profit subsidiary of The Healthy Living Program, LLC. SWIP has a message of hope. “Stop The Violence Campaign!” We are an official poetry chapter and publishing company in the St. Louis Metro East Area, that currently publishes manuscripts; poetry; fiction; non-fiction; anthologies; memoirs, health & wellness books; children’s books; cultural and spirituality books-as well as producing cd’s and dvd’s.
At-Risk youth will also be introduced to positive role models and empowering self- image concepts. The chapter will sponsor a “Stop the Violence Movement” bi-annually. The purpose of the movement is to empower our communities to take action against the senseless violent crimes that have plagued our cities throughout the nation. The event will bring together authors, lyricists, musicians, artists, community activists, clergy, law enforcement, former gang members, government leadership, and families of all socio-economic backgrounds that have lost loved ones through gang violence. The event will feature live musical performances, presentations, personal testimonies, remarks and informative literature from local talent. We will provide media coverage and interview individuals on WESL TV26, and the BTR radio show. In addition to providing a forum for a local talent showcase, the chapter will provide books to area youth in a book walk, sponsor an essay contest, and host a candlelight vigil to remember victims of violence.
As stated in the program goal, the purpose of this group is to promote reading literacy, through spoken word poetry to all age groups with a focus on disadvantaged youth through the writings of up and coming authors. We will publish anthologies and other novels, fiction, and non-fiction. We are a local and national chapter under the umbrella of Missouri State Poetry Society, and National Federal State Poetry Society.
